There's a night each lunar month when the moon goes completely dark. No sliver. No glow. Just the sky holding its breath between what was and what comes next. The ancient Greeks called that night the Deipnon — Hekate's Supper — and they honored it by sweeping their homes clean, gathering the dust and remnants of the month that was ending, and carrying them to a crossroads along with food and wine for the Goddess and the restless spirits who walk in Her train. Eggs. Garlic. Fish. Honey cakes. Red wine. All of it laid down freely at the place where three roads meet — the place that belongs to Hekate.
On May 16, Scott Burnett and I are bringing that tradition to life at Artes & Craft as part of our ongoing Esbat series with the Moonfire Coven. This is a free, open-to-the-public ritual, and whether you've been practicing for decades or you've never set foot in a circle before, you are welcome at this table. The dark moon arrives in Taurus at 4:01 PM EDT — the tail end of a massive seven-year astrological cycle — with the Sun, Moon, and Mercury all conjunct, urging us to ground into our worth, use our voices, and tend to the temples we live in, both physical and spiritual. Pluto has just entered retrograde in Aquarius, a perfect time for underworld work. Uranus has just crossed into Gemini, opening a new era of mental clarity and awakening. Hekate stands at that gate. She always has. She holds the keys.
Here's what to expect: a fully dressed altar with Hekate's triple image and the traditional Deipnon offerings arranged by hand and named aloud — garlic as ward, eggs as potential, fish from the sea of Einalía, honey that never decays. You'll be invited to bring your own sweepings from home (a small pouch of dust from your doorstep, altar remnants, whatever the month left behind) and to write on a slip of paper what you're ready to release. There will be chanting — layered, oceanic, building — a guided meditation at the crossroads where Hekate will ask you two questions you won't easily forget, an oracle card pull for the collective, and an anointing. And there may be something else at the end. Something that asks you to walk. I'll leave it at that.
Scott and I are proud to serve as part of the ritual team here at Artes & Craft alongside Pat and Paul and the Moonfire Coven. This shop isn't just a store — it's a living crossroads in its own right. Every hand-forged athame, every jar in the apothecary, every statue on the altar shelf was chosen or made by practitioners for practitioners. When we cast circle in this space, we're standing in something real. If you've been curious about ritual, about Hekate, about what it actually looks and feels like to participate in a traditional Wiccan Esbat — this is a beautiful place to begin.
Can't make it in person? We're recording the ritual, and it will be available on my YouTube channel, @HekateanHealing, where I share ASMR journey-work, guided meditations, and trance sessions rooted in the Hekatean path. Subscribe so you don't miss it. Can make it? Come to Artes & Craft, 67103 Red Arrow Highway, Hartford, MI. Bring a small pouch of sweepings from your home if you'd like to participate in the release. Bring an open heart. Leave the rest to Her.

The table is set. The torches are lit. Walk forward.
