Being the god of the sun, one of Apollo’s most important daily tasks is to drive the Sun across the sky in his chariot. Apollo was also the god of music, prophecy, medicine, and truth. Apollo was depicted as a handsome young man, clean shaven, and carrying either a lyre or a bow and arrows. The most famous sculpture of Apollo is in the Temple of Zeus, showing Apollo declaring victory against Centaurs, mythical creatures who are part man and part horse.
