Ishtar is a primary Mesopotamian goddess and the Akkadian equivalent of the Sumerian goddess Inanna and the Semitic goddess Astarte, the three deities are essentially the same in different cultures. She is the goddess of fertility and war and one of the most important divine figures in the ancient Babylonian empire. Like many deities in the past, Ishtar protects and blesses her worshipers while inflicting heavy vengeance upon her enemies, she is a God of both love and jealousy and can bring terrible consequences for those who betray her. While Ishtar is not as well known in the modern days, her influential role can be observed in modern religions and cultures.
