Keppens aka mini wands of Traditional English Witchcraft

Hand carved by our Pagan wand smith and expert in Traditional Witchcraft! Keppens are the mini wands of traditional English witchcraft and examples exist in the witchcraft museum. Carved from the Celtic ogham woods. Around four inches in length.

The wood was respectfully cut... Asking the tree's permission, taking only what was required safely and cleanly from a branch above a bud to ensure the tree was unharmed, and then thanking and blessing the tree. The wood is then seasoned for a year.

The keppens manifest as they will, the carver enters a trance state and shapes the keppen without thought, guided just by intuition.

Wands in ceremonial magick represent the element of Fire, the power of the will, male fertility, creativity and manifestation. Wands are also a phallic symbol of male powers and regeneration. In traditional witchcraft they were used for directing power and energy and the nature of the wood lent its power to the spell. For example, blackthorn for cursing, birch for healing and regeneration, fruit trees for love and sex, oak for health and prosperity....
