These popular wands are of Paul’s "Artisan" range. These Bifrost wands are a lot of work, hence the price and why so few are produced.. The looped tail required the iron to be “drawn out” or thinned by hammers until the tail is over a foot long. Paul is then able to loop it back around the handle and finish the tip in serpentine and spiral shapes.
The wand on each of the four sides has the names of the four principle norse gods and goddesses in runes… Odin, Thor, Loki and Freya.
An additional rune is on each side for different intentions… Tir for victory and success and male powers, Algiz (the witch rune) for protection and the forces of Wyrd, Berkano for love, healing, sex, regeneration and feminine powers, Wunjo for joy, harmony and happiness.
The shaft is twisted using a complex and labor-intensive blacksmithing twist called a “Vine twist”. Half inch by half inch the wand has to be heated, the part not being twisted must be punged in water to “freeze” it in place, then a half inch can be twisted, then this is repeated again but for the next half inch it is twisted in the opposite direction, and so on. The result is a lot of work but looks very organic!
The finished wand is then finely ground, detailed and shaped. Then polished to a mirror finish. It is then colorized by tempering, which after polishing creates an iridescent patina in rainbow colors… Hence why we call it our Bifrost Wand!
This wand is approximately 14.5 inches in length.
The twists in the wand show the movement of energy. and that magick is always turning about the dark and light side of dualities.
Unique hand forged iron heirloom wand for witchcraft, wicca and paganism by our pagan blacksmith. Paul is a practitioner of traditional witchcraft, a Wiccan high priest and a ceremonial magikan.
Iron is sacred to Mars and therefore perfect for a weapon of manifestation and will such as the wand!
Iron was also sacred to the Norse Sorceress, the Volva!
The Tubal Cain mythos also has iron as a tool of our will and apostasy, Yahweh after the expulsion from Eden told Adam and Eve they would have to scrabble among the thorns for their food... But Tubal Cain, 7th son of Cain had other ideas and discovered the working of iron and became the first blacksmith. To the Tubal Cain currents of witchcraft iron is therefore a tool of our will.
In Traditional English cottage witchcraft the Fae Folk are scared of iron and therefore iron tools can be used to protect against or control the Fae.
Each of Paul's wands are unique. There is no plan beforehand, the wand is allowed to manifest as it wills, Paul just helps it along.
