This staff, perfect for traditional witchcraft, ceremonial high magick and wicca was forged from a single piece of iron bar. Although in much modern witchcraft circles are cast in the air… In traditional cottage witchcraft of old England the witch would walk the wild places. Called pellars or hedge riders, witches worked in liminal places such as woodland clearings, seashores, hill tops… Places that are neither one thing nor another… The staff would be used in these wild places and portals to scratch a circle in the ground within which the witch would practice their spell craft. The witch would also use the staff while walking in the wilds to collect “sprowl” – the power of the land.
71 Inches high! Just slightly under 6 foot tall!
The twisted monochromatic shaft represents the light and the dark, and the twisting changing nature of magick. It also suggests movement and energy. The twisting technique used is a complex "Staircase twist", each couple of inches has to be heated and twisted, after first being cut in half inch increments up and down the entire length. For this reason it is only normally used on short lengths of iron such as dagger or sword handles. The process takes days and is reflected in the price.
A crystal has been set in the staff top and the power of the crystal sphere’s metaphysical properties lends its own power also to this ritual weapon. In this case a huge impressive 4 inch diameter black moonstone!
Just below the crystal on all four sides the staff has been decorated with a triple moon symbol and the Algiz "Wyrd" rune. The staff also widens to a decorative basket midway up its length!
Unique hand forged heirloom quality staff by our pagan blacksmith. Paul is a practitioner of traditional witchcraft and ceremonial magick.
Iron is sacred to Mars.
The Tubal Cain mythos also has iron as a tool of our will and apostasy, Yahweh after the expulsion from Eden told Adam and Eve they would have to scrabble among the thorns for their food... But Tubal Cain, 7th son of Cain had other ideas and discovered the working of iron and became the first blacksmith. To the Tubal Cain currents of witchcraft iron is therefore a tool of our will.
In Traditional English cottage witchcraft the Fae Folk are scared of iron and therefore iron tools can be used to protect against or control the Fae.
Each of Paul's staffs are unique. There is no plan beforehand, the staff is allowed to manifest as it wills, Paul just helps it along.
