• In Flying Ointments And Ungulents: Monkshood and wolfsbane is a key ingredient in "flying ointments" used by witches and wiccans. Some witchy baneful herbs such as belladonna and mandrake are very psychoactive and can cause visions. These flying ointments, often abrorbed through the labia into the body on ritual tools like broom handles induce a trance state (through the plant's toxic side effects) that allowed the spirit to "soar" to the Esbat or Sabbat or coven gatherings.
• Protection and Warding: It is a powerful ward for protection. In European folklore, wolfsbane was planted near homes or kept inside or used in rituals to ward off werewolves, vampires, and baneful spirits.
• Underworld and Necromancy: Associated with Hecate and Cerberus hound of Hades, monkshood is a powerful herb for workings related to the underworld, spirits of the dead, and necromancy and spirit work.
