Nyx is the Greek primordial goddess of the night and magic, she is the daughter of Chaos, the primordial void. It is said that she was created during the beginning of time along with her brothers and sister, Gaia, Tartarus, Eros, and Erebus. As one of the oldest deities in Greek mythology, Nyx often isn’t the central focus of the story. Her role as the personification of the darkness, the mystic, and the shadow, is a force too omnipotent to be directly involved in moral or even godly affairs. She resides in the realm of Hades in the depths of Tartarus, a place for suffering and eternal torment, however, she is far from the personification of evil – her influence can sway mankind to either the side of good or evil. In ancient art, Nyx was depicted as a winged goddess, sometimes riding on a chariot or radiating with misty darkness.
