Skadi is a giantess and a goddess by marriage in the Norse mythologies. She lives in the height of the mountains and is associated with winter, bowhunting, skiing, and mountains. She was once married to the Norse god Njord – the marriage was a part of the compensation provided by the gods for killer her father. The marriage between the two deities ultimately fails; Njord couldn’t stand staying at the mountains and Skadi couldn’t bear to reside at the seashore.
