In this third part of our Art Of Witchcraft blog on our popular witchcraft supplies online website, I’m going to talk about a real headscratcher… A mistake I see witches, wiccans and pagans make over and over again in their spellcasting…
TO know, TO will, TO dare AND TO KEEP SILENT!!!
These are of course in Ceremonial Magick terms called “The four powers of the Sphinx”… In Wicca, traditional witchcraft and eclectic modern witchcraft it is also known as “The Witches Pyramid”.
In case you don’t know these also represent the four elements… And therefore directions, seasons and other correspondences.
As before, I do not want to appear to be a gatekeeper, and you can argue or disagree! But I have been practicing ritual witchcraft, ceremonial ritual magick and spell casting since I was about 11 years old… And I am now aged 58… Retired in some comfort, with resources to do anything I want whenever I want to… I run a very successful witchcraft store online and a popular witchcraft supplies store in Hartford Michigan. I am loved, with a wonderful clever gorgeous wife, kids and grandkids… I have lived the life of 100 regular mundane men… So I might just have some good tips and pointers for you in your own ritual witchcraft and spellcasting practice from my 4 decades plus of [personal experience…..
So here is my beef…
WHY do young witches, pagans, wiccans and other spellcasters ALWAYS seem to blab about their spells and spellwork ALL OVER social media?!?!?
In old school ceremonial magick you are taught the ABSOLUTE importance of keeping silence… Which equates to the element of earth… Which is of course the target for where the results of most spells and spell workings are supposed to become manifest…
So why KEEP SILENCE?? Aleister Crowley talked about it the best… In his occult writings and occult magick schools he always talks about avoiding “The Lust Of Result”… In a nutshell, most witches and pagans cast spells to bring or banish something from their lives… Often important things… Money, health, lovers, legal problems… Magick works best when you are not WORRYING ALL THE TIME ABOUT THE RESULT!!!
Aleister Crowley said it is the dweller on the threshold called doubt, the herald of failure. The idea is that the more you worry about the spell you cast… Then the more doubt that creeps in… Is it working yet? When will the results start? Did I do it right? Did I use the right things at the right time? Why isn’t it working yet? What did I do wrong?... These doubts erode the power of the spell cast. The more you worry, the more the spell weakens…
This is made even worse if you TELL people… Because then folks might ask “Hey, how did that spell turn out”? Which makes you think about it, or start worrying about it… Or your ego takes over and you down play it or make excuses… Not good.
Chaos Magick, which was derived from old occult ceremonial magick, keeps the same idea… In Chaos Magick its called “fire and forget”.. Any good author and book on sigils and other magick occult techniques will again stress that once the ritual is performed and the spell is cast then you need to KNOW it is going to work… The universe has been given a kick up the butt – all will reconfigure to your will… It just takes a little time for the new reality to catch up…
Magick is therefore a state of mind. It’s a trip – a mind fuck… You HAVE TO BELIEVE… Doubt, questions, all erode the effects.
One of the most powerful teachings on magick is given by Aleister Crowley right at the start of his LIBER O, specifically written for novices…
“In this book it is spoken of the Sephiroth and the Paths; of Spirits and Conjurations; of Gods, Spheres, Planes, and many other things which may or may not exist. It is immaterial whether these exist or not. By doing certain things certain results will follow; students are most earnestly warned against attributing objective reality or philosophic validity to any of them. The advantages to be gained from them are chiefly these:
("a") A widening of the horizon of the mind.
("b") An improvement of the control of the mind.
The student, if he attains any success in the following practices, will find himself confronted by things (ideas or beings) too glorious or too dreadful to be described. It is essential that he remain the master of all that he beholds, hears or conceives; otherwise he will be the slave of illusion, and the prey of madness.”
See… It doesn’t matter if gods, planes, entities, demons. Whatever, exists… It is important you believe that by doing ritual spellcasting results will follow… If you doubt any part of it then results will NOT follow.
Crowley taught the importance of meditation, focus, avoiding ego… That if you find yourself thinking or pondering on a spell you cast then to mentally change the channel, or pop the idea like a soap bubble, think immediately of something else…
“For pure will, unassuaged of purpose, delivered from the lust of result, is every way perfect.” – Crowley
The trouble is that many wiccans and witches cast spells for important things they NEED or are stressing about… Which sadly is the worse time to cast spells because that is “the lust of result” he is talking about… Some of the best prosperity magick I did was when I was already comfortable and not stressed about money…. It’s when you are broke and have a big bill to be paid SOON that is when witches cast spells… Which leads immediately to worrying about if it worked… Made even worse if they told people they threw a spell for money…
So… Control your mind… Practice meditation…. Learn to change the mental channel… KNOW your will be manifest once reality catches up with your intention and spellcasting… And certainly DO NOT tell anyone else about it…
And those big online workings to bring down hated politicians and other rat finks, however deserving of a curse…. Well… Others see that shit… Christians… Or practitioners with opposing beliefs… Who then start praying or spell casting for protection… And then those Christians hate on witchcraft even harder afterwards… Yeah… See the problem?...
KEEP SILENCE!!
If you want your will to be made manifest on the EARTHly plane, then shut the fuck up!!!
Rant over. I feel better now… Now back to putting 100s of new books and tarot up on my witchcraft store online…..
